Director Yeon Sang-ho's latest film Face will be released with optional Korean subtitles (CC), offering audiences a wider range of viewing experiences.
Korean Subtitles for Better Understanding
Distributor Plus M Entertainment announced on September 5 that Face will include screenings with Korean dialogue subtitles. This version is designed to help viewers better follow the layered mystery surrounding the character Jung Young-hee. In addition to the original screening format, theaters will provide subtitled versions where dialogue appears on-screen.
Major theater chains including Megabox, Lotte Cinema, and CGV will gradually open reservations for these screenings. Detailed schedules will be available through each cinema's official website.
A Mystery Rooted in Family and the Past
Face marks Yeon Sang-ho's sixth feature film. The story follows Im Dong-hwan, the son of a visually impaired artisan, who begins investigating the truth after the remains of his mother—missing for 40 years—are discovered.
Actor Park Jung-min plays dual roles as both young Im Young-kyu (the father) and his son Im Dong-hwan. Kwon Hae-hyo portrays the present-day Im Young-kyu, while Shin Hyun-bin plays the mother, Jung Young-hee.
International Recognition and Release Date
Even before its release, Face has been praised for its artistic quality. It has been invited to the Special Presentation section of the 50th Toronto International Film Festival, where it will hold its world premiere on September 9.
The film will officially hit Korean theaters on September 11.
