Netflix's new film Good News (directed by Byun Sung-hyun) made its world premiere at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival on September 5 (local time). The screening was held at the Princess of Wales Theatre under the festival's Special Presentation section.

Red Carpet & First Reactions

Director Byun Sung-hyun, along with cast members Seol Kyung-gu, Hong Kyung, and Sho Kasamatsu, appeared on the photo wall ahead of the premiere. Director Byun expressed both nerves and excitement, saying, "This is the very first time we're unveiling the film to an audience. I'm anxious but hope everyone enjoys it—it's a fun movie."

He emphasized the film's originality, adding, "I worked to find ways to deliver the story effectively while keeping it fresh for audiences."

Storyline & Characters

Good News is set in the 1970s and follows a group of people who come together with a suspicious plan to land a hijacked plane at any cost.

Seol Kyung-gu plays a mysterious fixer known only as Amugae, Hong Kyung portrays elite Air Force lieutenant Seo Go-myung, and Sho Kasamatsu takes on the role of Denji, the leader of a communist militant group.

Global Release

The production team described the film as a mix of witty satire, unique direction, and a powerful ensemble that blends veteran presence with fresh talent. Good News will premiere globally on Netflix on October 17.
