Singer Psy (real name Park Jae-sang) is expected to be summoned by police in connection with a suspected violation of Korea's Medical Service Act.
At a regular press briefing on September 8, the Seoul Metropolitan Police confirmed that they are "conducting related interviews and analyzing seized materials."
Allegations of Proxy Prescription Pickup
Psy has been undergoing treatment for chronic sleep disorders and has been prescribed sleeping medication. While there was no proxy prescription, a third party reportedly collected the medication on his behalf, which constitutes a violation under Korean law.
Agency Response
Psy's representatives admitted fault, stating, "It was clearly a mistake and negligence that the prescription-only sleeping pills were picked up by another person. We sincerely apologize for causing concern."
Police Investigation Ongoing
Authorities are currently looking into how the prescription was issued and whether the non-face-to-face issuance process followed legal procedures. Police added, "He has not yet been summoned for questioning, but there are, of course, plans to conduct an investigation."
