Star screenwriter Kim Eun-sook has stepped up to support relief efforts in Gangneung, which is facing one of its worst droughts on record.
On September 8, Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association announced that Kim Eun-sook and Yoon Ha-rim, CEO of Hwadam Entertainment, each donated bottled water worth 20 million KRW (about $15,000) to Gangneung City. The donations will be used to aid local residents suffering from severe water shortages, with additional water rationing already in place.
Message of Support
Kim shared, "I heard about the hardships residents are enduring due to the drought. I wanted to contribute, even in a small way, so I decided to make this donation." She added, "I worry because there is still no sign of rain. I sincerely hope that relief comes soon and the situation improves."
Consistent Acts of Giving
Both Kim and Yoon are members of the Hope Bridge Honors Club, a circle of major donors who regularly contribute during national disasters. Since 2014, they have supported numerous relief campaigns. Most recently, in July, they donated 60 million KRW to assist flood victims affected by heavy rains.
Meanwhile, Kim Eun-sook is set to return to the screen on October 3 with her new Netflix series All Shall Come True.
