Actor Lee Byung-hun was honored with a special Tribute Award at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

The TIFF Tribute Awards ceremony took place on September 8 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto, Canada. Lee was among four honorees, joining Hollywood actress Jodie Foster, director Guillermo del Toro, and Hikari.

Sharing his thoughts on social media, Lee said, "Congratulations to TIFF on its 50th anniversary. I am proud to be part of this wonderful festival."

Reflecting on his career, he added, "I began acting in TV dramas 35 years ago, but my love for film has always been in my heart." He recalled starring in Park Chan-wook's Joint Security Area (JSA) in 2000, saying, "Through this film, I realized my dream of appearing in a hit movie."

Lee also discussed his latest project, No Way Out, noting, "I first heard about this story from Park Chan-wook 15 years ago, and now it has finally been completed as a film." He expressed his ambition, stating, "This is a must-watch story. I hope to continue presenting works that audiences simply cannot miss."

Concluding his speech, he emphasized, "I see this award as recognition of the proud achievements and growth of Korean culture, and I accept it with humility."

The TIFF Tribute Awards honor individuals who have made significant contributions to global cinema, including actors and directors. This year marked the seventh edition of the awards.

The 50th Toronto International Film Festival runs across Toronto until September 14.
