Actors Kim Da-mi and Park Hae-soo are set to deliver intense performances in Netflix's upcoming sci-fi disaster blockbuster The Great Flood (directed by Kim Byung-woo), which confirmed its global release date for December 19 alongside a teaser poster reveal.
Humanity's Last Battle
The Great Flood depicts the desperate struggle for survival on the final day of Earth, submerged under a catastrophic deluge. Within a high-rise apartment swallowed by water, those clinging to hope fight against impossible odds.
The teaser poster amplifies the tension, showing a building completely submerged as if under the sea, with the silhouette of an adult holding a child tightly. The tagline reads: "On the day the world ends, only one choice remains for humanity."
Characters in Crisis
Kim Da-mi plays Anna, an AI researcher who battles to survive in the midst of towering waves. Her character embodies both scientific resolve and human desperation.
Park Hae-soo takes on the role of Hee-jo, a member of the Human Security Team tasked with rescuing Anna. His mission, along with the hidden reasons behind it, will be key to the story's suspense.
Director Kim Byung-woo, known for The Terror Live and PMC: The Bunker, once again explores human resilience under extreme conditions. He explained, "This film doesn't just end with disaster. The idea began with the question: what kind of story can we start through the genre of catastrophe—something that could be either complex or deceptively simple?"
Early Recognition and Anticipation
Ahead of its release, The Great Flood has already drawn attention, being officially invited to the "Korean Cinema Today – Special Premiere" section of the 30th Busan International Film Festival.
The production team expressed confidence, stating, "Viewers can expect Kim Da-mi and Park Hae-soo's gripping performances to heighten the tension and immersion of this unpredictable survival story."
The Great Flood will premiere worldwide on Netflix on December 19.
