by. ymchoi

FNC Entertainment, long recognized as a powerhouse in the K-band scene with acts like CNBLUE, FTISLAND, and N.Flying, has unveiled its first new band in a decade. AMP (AxMxP) stepped into the spotlight, aiming to uphold the company's reputation with strong visuals, musical skills, and mass appeal.

The four-member group—Ha Yoo-jun (20), Kim Shin (19), Krew (19), and Joo Hwan (15)—held their debut showcase for the album "AMP" on September 10 at Olympic Hall in Seoul. With vocals, rap, guitar, bass, and drums fully performed by the members themselves, the band made a bold statement of their identity. AMP stands for "Amplify Music Power," symbolizing their mission to magnify the energy of music and move the world.

Debut Showcase Highlights

AMP introduced their first full album themed "Emotional Storm," capturing the colorful emotions of teenage years. The record features 10 tracks spanning from hip-hop and punk rock to ballads, showcasing a broad spectrum. The group performs with three title tracks: the hip-hop rock anthem "I Did It," the emotive ballad "Love Poem," and the vibrant punk rock song "Shocking Drama."

During the showcase, all three songs were performed live with instruments, proving their musicianship and stage presence. Ha Yoo-jun, as the frontman, delivered an explosive performance in "I Did It," blending rap and vocals with charisma. "Love Poem" highlighted their softer, lyrical side, while "Shocking Drama" brought youthful, high-energy fun to the stage.

Building Their Identity

The members described their journey with passion. "We've been preparing as AMP for a long time, and we want our music to touch people's hearts," they shared. Ha Yoo-jun added, "We practiced tirelessly to live up to the title of FNC's first new band in 10 years. Each track shows a different message and color, even exploring hip-hop within a band format."

Kim Shin noted the group's thematic direction: "We wanted to express the colorful emotions of boys who used to feel monochromatic. That's why we called it 'Emotional Storm.'" The album not only reflects their identity but also marks the beginning of their journey as a next-generation K-band.

Looking Ahead

Even before their official debut, AMP has gained experience on notable stages such as "FNC Band Kingdom" and "Beautiful Mint Life." They are also slated to perform at the upcoming Busan International Rock Festival. The group expressed excitement: "Standing on big stages before our debut has been an honor. We'll show something uniquely ours in Busan as well."

Beyond performing, AMP members have strong ambitions in self-production. "All of us are trying songwriting, composing, and producing," said Kim Shin. "One day, we hope to release our own creations." Ha Yoo-jun added, "For this album, we focused on conveying emotions through our instrumental recordings. We'll continue to grow as musicians, so please follow our journey."

AMP's debut album "AMP" was released across major music platforms on September 10 at 6 p.m., officially signaling the start of their career.
