Actor Song Kang-ho is set to take on the role of an ordinary government worker in the upcoming film The Gardeners (working title), directed by Nam Dong-hyub.
The story follows Choi Young-il, a diligent public servant whose only hobby is tending to plants. His quiet life takes a turn when mounting debt draws him into an unusual gardening business alongside the troublemakers in his neighborhood. Song will portray Young-il, a humble yet sincere figure who finds joy and fulfillment in caring for his "plant family."
Creative Team and Production
Director Nam Dong-hyub, previously recognized with the Best New Director award at the 23rd Directors Cut Awards for Handsome Guys, brings his signature blend of genres to this new project. The Gardeners is being produced by Hive Media Corp, the powerhouse studio behind hit films including 12.12: The Day, Harbin, The Night Owl, Deliver Us from Evil, The Man Standing Next, and Inside Men.
Currently in pre-production, The Gardeners is scheduled to begin filming next year.
