Kang Mina will not be joining the much-anticipated I.O.I 10th anniversary reunion project.
Her agency, Story J Company, confirmed on September 12 that she has decided not to participate. "The reunion discussions overlapped with her drama filming and promotional schedules, which made it difficult for her to join," the agency explained.
After careful consideration, Kang Mina chose to prioritize her acting career. "We respect her decision to focus on her growth as an actress," the company added.
I.O.I's 10th Anniversary Plans
I.O.I, the project girl group formed through Mnet's Produce 101, debuted in 2016 and promoted for about one year. The group released multiple hits, including Dream Girls and Very Very Very, before disbanding.
With May 4, 2026 marking their 10th debut anniversary, talks of a reunion have been circulating. Members like Jeon Somi and Jung Chaeyeon have publicly addressed the possibility, fueling fan anticipation.
Kang Mina's Current Work
Meanwhile, Kang Mina continues to expand her acting portfolio. She appeared in KBS2's Twelve and Netflix's History of Confession. She is also set to feature in the upcoming Netflix series Girigo, scheduled for release next year.
Her decision signals a clear direction: while I.O.I's legacy remains strong, Kang Mina is carving her own path in the acting world.
