Seventeen's Hoshi begins his mandatory military service today as an active-duty soldier in the Korean Army.
On September 16, Hoshi enters a military training camp where he will undergo five weeks of basic training before being assigned to his unit. His expected discharge date is March 15, 2027.
Before enlisting, he delivered a heartfelt message to global fans. "I'll return strong, so please don't worry too much," he said. He also revealed his freshly cropped hair, adding, "It finally feels real after cutting my hair. I feel more prepared now, and I'll do my best."
A Special Gift Before Service
As a surprise for fans, BIGHIT MUSIC announced that Hoshi will release his solo track "TAKE A SHOT" at 6 p.m. KST on the same day. The hip-hop track is built on the rage genre, blending powerful rap, layered synth sounds, and dynamic guitar riffs.
Hoshi participated in writing the lyrics, channeling his burning passion into the words. With bold sound effects and swagger-filled expressions, the song highlights his signature energy.
Seventeen's Military Service Lineup
Hoshi becomes the fourth member of Seventeen to begin service. Jeonghan started alternative service in September last year, Wonwoo followed in April, and Woozi enlisted on September 15.
Despite the "military hiatus," Seventeen is actively connecting with fans. The group launched their latest world tour "NEW_" with a sold-out concert at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium on September 13–14. They will continue performances in Hong Kong, North America, and Japan.
