Actor Ryu Seung-ryong transforms into a weary yet determined corporate manager in his upcoming drama.
First Look at "Kim Manager"
On September 17, JTBC released the character teaser of Kim Nak-soo, played by Ryu Seung-ryong, from the new drama The Story of Kim Manager Working at a Major Corporation and Owning a Home in Seoul (Kim Manager).
Kim Nak-soo is the head of Sales Team 1 at a large corporation. On paper, he leads an enviable life—owning a home in one of Seoul's prime districts and holding a secure job title. But time chips away at his confidence, and his once-stable position begins to feel precarious.
Glimpses of His Dual Life
The teaser captures Nak-soo's contrasting 24 hours. At work, he starts his day with coffee and motivational speeches to his juniors, flashing a confident smile. Yet, when facing his higher-ups, his expression darkens, revealing the vulnerability of a middle manager under pressure.
At home, his demeanor softens. Surrounded by family, Nak-soo sheds his corporate armor, hinting at the deeper reason he fights to survive each day—his desire to protect and provide for his loved ones.
A Story of Survival and Rediscovery
Kim Manager is based on a novel of the same name. The drama portrays the journey of a middle-aged man who suddenly loses everything and, through hardship, rediscovers his true self. With Ryu Seung-ryong's nuanced performance, viewers can expect both laughter and empathy in this slice-of-life survival story.
The drama is scheduled to premiere later this year on JTBC.
