&TEAM's Uiju has been named the newest MC of SBS-TV's Inkigayo. HYBE Labels confirmed the news on September 19, adding fresh excitement to the weekly music show.
Uiju will host the program alongside IVE's Leeseo and TWS's Shinyu, bringing bright energy and youthful charm to the lineup. "Not only does Uiju have striking visuals, but his lively hosting skills and natural variety sense will also shine," a representative said.
Rising Popularity in Korea and Japan
Although &TEAM is preparing for its official Korean debut on October 28 with the mini album Back to Life, Uiju is already a familiar name to fans. The group's recent solo concert at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Seoul sold out instantly, proving strong domestic demand.
In Japan, &TEAM's success is even more pronounced. Their third single Go In Blind surpassed 1 million shipments, earning Million certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ). The track also topped both daily and weekly Oricon charts, underlining their fast-growing influence.
Expanding His Career
Beyond music, Uiju recently starred in the Japanese drama Even a Shrimp Wants to Catch a Sea Bream, receiving praise for his convincing performance in a serious acting role.
With his new Inkigayo MC position, Uiju is set to showcase yet another side of his talent, solidifying his reputation as a versatile next-generation K-pop star.
