Rising boy group Kickflip has returned with a refreshing concept, using their third mini album My First Flip to capture the excitement and awkward charm of first love—directly dedicated to their fandom, WeFlip.

A New Concept: From Scolding to First Love

At their press showcase held on September 22 at Yes24 Live Hall in Seoul, the members revealed that they wanted to try a concept different from their first two albums. "We all have memories of first love, so we wanted to tell that story," they explained.

The album features seven tracks, including Band-Aid, Singularity, Again, Here, Gas On It, Not Found, and It's a Secret I Had a Nightmare. The title track The First Song I Sing is particularly special as youngest member Donghyun took part in both writing and composing, following his earlier contribution to Freeze.

Honest Lyrics Inspired by Fans

Donghyun shared that the lyrics came easily while thinking about fans: "Since I'm still a student, I pictured a sunset after school where someone confesses. That became the scene for our song." The lyrics vividly capture the trembling emotions of first love with lines like, "I can't usually do this, but I'll confess," and "Wait, let me clear my throat—it's a song for you."

The group matched the fresh theme with bright choreography and energetic performances. Minje even shouted "Let's go!" mid-stage, adding to the youthful energy.

Music Video and Acting Challenges

For the music video, the members also tried acting. KeiJu and Minje both like the same "WeFlip" figure, leading to a bittersweet storyline when KeiJu confesses first. "It was my first time acting," KeiJu said. "I was embarrassed, but I wanted to show the courage of a first love confession."

Growth as Musicians

All six active members contributed to the album's production, with credits spread across lyrics, composition, and melodies. Minje composed Band-Aid, while Gyehun worked on Singularity and Gas On It. Donghwa took part in writing Again, Here.

Although member Amaru is currently on hiatus due to anxiety issues, Donghyun promised, "We'll work hard to fill his absence and cheer for his healthy return."

Big Goals Ahead

Kickflip expressed their wish to achieve their first music show win with My First Flip. "If we win No.1, I want to hold flowers during the encore and sing our love song for fans," Donghyun said.

Since debuting in January, Kickflip has already performed at major festivals like Lollapalooza Chicago and Summer Sonic Tokyo/Osaka. The members noted that these stages helped them grow, learning to enjoy performing and connect with audiences worldwide.

Comeback Activities

Kickflip released My First Flip on September 22 at 6 p.m. KST. They are also appearing on Mnet's M2 comeback show at 7 p.m., followed by a comeback showcase at 8 p.m.

With heartfelt lyrics, playful energy, and increasing musical input, Kickflip is showing both growth and charm as they continue their journey with fans.
