by. ymchoi

Korean director Park Chan-wook's latest film No Other Choice is off to a strong start, signaling major box office potential. The thriller has already recorded the highest advance ticket sales for a Korean release this year.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing network, No Other Choice reached the No. 1 spot in real-time reservation rankings as of the morning of September 24, with a pre-sale audience of 400,406 and a market share of 53.9%.

The film also topped pre-sale charts across Korea's three major cinema chains — CGV, Lotte Cinema, and Megabox. Despite opening alongside the highly anticipated Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc, it has maintained its momentum.

No Other Choice follows the story of a once content office worker who, after being suddenly fired, wages a personal war to protect his family and home while struggling to re-enter the workforce.

The movie first premiered at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival and also served as the opening film of the 30th Busan International Film Festival. With high-quality production values and powerful character portrayals, it has already earned strong critical acclaim.

Meanwhile, the Korean Film Council has officially submitted No Other Choice as Korea's entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the upcoming Academy Awards.
