Kim Junsu is returning to the stage with the hit musical Beetlejuice.
On September 24, the production team announced the casting lineup, confirming Kim Junsu in the lead role of Beetlejuice — a mysterious afterlife guide and mischievous ghost said to be 10 billion years old.
Based on Tim Burton's cult-classic film, the story follows a ghost couple who attempt to drive out a new family from their home, summoning Beetlejuice in the process.
The show has already earned acclaim on Broadway, with its 2019 debut securing eight Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Original Score.
The Korean adaptation first opened in 2021, captivating audiences with its addictive numbers, magical stagecraft, and larger-than-life visuals. This season promises even grander spectacle, featuring levitation stunts, fire effects, and giant puppetry.
Joining Kim Junsu in the titular role are Jung Won-young and Jung Sung-hwa. Hong Na-hyun and Jang Min-jae will play Lydia, the daughter of the new family, while Charles, her father, will be portrayed by Kim Yong-soo and Kim Dae-ryung.
Actors Lee Yul and Jung Wook-jin will take on the role of Adam, the ghost husband, with Park Hye-mi and Na Hana as his wife Barbara. Jeon Soo-mi and Yoon Gong-joo are cast as Delia, Lydia's eccentric mentor.
Beetlejuice opens on December 16 at LG Arts Center Seoul.
