SEVENTEEN's management has shared progress on their ongoing legal measures to protect the group's rights.
On September 26, Pledis Entertainment posted a notice on global fandom platform Weverse under the title "Update on Legal Actions Regarding Artist Rights Infringement."
Crackdown on Scalpers and Information Leaks
The company confirmed it is cooperating with police to target professional scalpers as part of a broader campaign to eliminate illegal ticket sales.
They also addressed repeated leaks of unreleased album and concert information online. "Investigations confirmed the suspect has been indicted on charges of leaking trade secrets, and the case has been forwarded to prosecution," Pledis stated, adding that the prosecution's inquiry is still ongoing.
Zero Tolerance Toward Malicious Behavior
The agency emphasized its firm stance: "We will continue to cooperate fully throughout the investigation so that those responsible face legal punishment."
They added that lawsuits against malicious commenters are also ongoing. This includes civil and criminal actions against defamatory posts, false rumors, and targeted attacks, even against members currently serving in the military.
"There will be no leniency or settlements for slander or defamation of our artists. We will pursue the strictest punishment until the very end," Pledis said.
SEVENTEEN's Ongoing Activities
Back in June, the company also declared an all-out war on malicious posts, even requesting disclosure orders from courts to identify overseas social media users.
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN is continuing their world tour NEW_ and will perform at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium on September 27–28.
Would you like me to add context for overseas readers about how "trade secret" applies in K-pop, especially in relation to unreleased albums and tour details?
