Veteran actor Choi Min-sik and rising star Han So-hee are joining forces on the big screen.
On September 29, the production team confirmed the casting lineup for the Korean remake of The Intern (dir. Kim Do-young), with Choi Min-sik, Han So-hee, Kim Geum-soon, Kim Jun-han, and Ryu Hye-young set to appear.
A Classic Story with a Korean Twist
The film reimagines the Hollywood hit The Intern with a local sensibility. The story follows a fashion company CEO who hires a senior intern, leading to unexpected lessons and growth for both.
Choi Min-sik will play Gi-ho, a retiree who embarks on a second chapter of life as a "silver intern." Known for his intense roles in Exhuma, Roaring Currents, and New World, Choi is expected to show a softer, more heartwarming side.
Han So-hee steps into the role of Sun-woo, the head of a fashion company generating over 10 billion KRW in revenue. Taking over the narrative baton from Anne Hathaway, she will showcase a mix of charisma and vulnerability.
Supporting Cast and Direction
Kim Geum-soon portrays Hee-sook, who runs the company cafeteria, while Kim Jun-han plays vice president Young-hwan. Ryu Hye-young appears as Min-ah, Gi-ho's mentor within the company.
Director Kim Do-young, who previously gained acclaim for Kim Ji-young, Born 1982, is at the helm. Known for blending warmth with sharp social insight, she is expected to bring depth to the remake.
Production Kicks Off
The film officially began shooting today, with high expectations for how this globally beloved story will be retold for Korean audiences.
