Actor Kim Nam-gil is once again spreading positive influence by donating concert proceeds to help vulnerable children and teenagers.
The cultural arts NGO Gilstory announced on September 30 that funds from the charity performance "2024 SMG Show – Universe Strongest Show" are being used to support the "A Strong Day" campaign.
Campaign to Provide Warmth and Stability
The "A Strong Day" initiative provides meals, counseling, and emotional support to children and adolescents in crisis, ensuring they experience a day of warmth and care. The project also aims to help them build social networks, strengthen emotional resilience, and lead healthier daily lives.
To ensure sustainability, the campaign is partnering with local institutions to create long-term support models. Examples include Jakgong, a youth library and alternative education space in Seoul that offers cultural and emotional programs for out-of-school teens, and Cheonggaeguri Restaurant in Bucheon, which began serving late-night meals to children and teens in May, along with related experience programs.
Powered by Charity Performance
Funds for the campaign were drawn from proceeds of the December 2024 charity performance at Kyung Hee University's Grand Peace Palace. A total of 26 actors volunteered their talents for the show, including Kim Nam-gil, Yoo Hae-jin, Cha Seung-won, Kim Sung-kyun, Jin Goo, Kim Dae-myung, Go Gyu-pil, Joo Ji-hoon, and Honey Lee.
Kim Nam-gil, who also serves as Gilstory's representative, said, "I wanted to help children and teenagers in crisis lead healthy daily lives within a supportive community." He added, "It is especially meaningful and I'm grateful that this campaign could move forward thanks to the actors and audiences who joined us for the 'Universe Strongest Show.'"
Upcoming Charity Show
The charity initiative will continue this year, with the next performance scheduled for November 29 at Ewha Womans University Auditorium in Seoul.
