Comedy-action film The Boss has taken over Korea's Chuseok box office, staying at No. 1 for two consecutive days.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing network, The Boss drew 208,863 moviegoers on October 4, bringing its total audience to 453,023.
Directed by Ra Hee-chan, The Boss follows a group of gang members humorously competing to avoid becoming the next boss. The film's lighthearted tone and witty storyline have appealed to audiences of all ages.
It also led real-time ticket reservations with a 24.1% share, surpassing 120,000 pre-booked tickets as of 10 a.m. on October 5. The film is expected to exceed one million admissions during the Chuseok holiday period.
Meanwhile, Park Chan-wook's No Choice ranked second at the box office with 147,005 viewers on the same day, bringing its cumulative total to 1,724,812. The film is on track to hit the 2 million mark soon.
Director Park Chan-wook and actor Lee Byung-hun will continue the film's global promotion by attending the 69th London International Film Festival from October 8 to 19. They are scheduled to walk the red carpet on October 15 and present the film to local audiences.
