Director Yeon Sang-ho's latest film The Face has officially surpassed one million moviegoers.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing network, The Face drew 12,455 viewers nationwide on October 5, bringing its total audience to 1,002,516.
It's the 21st film released this year to reach the one-million mark, and the 10th Korean title to achieve the milestone. The film currently ranks just behind Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint in 10th place among domestic releases.
The cast expressed their gratitude to fans. Park Jung-min shared, "The face of this film was shaped by the attention of a million people," while Shin Hyun-bin simply wrote, "Sincerely, thank you."
The Face marks Yeon Sang-ho's sixth feature film. It tells the story of a blind son of a traditional seal engraver who uncovers the truth after his mother's remains are found 40 years after her disappearance.
Made on a modest budget of just 200 million KRW, the film was shot over 13 days with a small crew — delivering a powerful message beneath its gripping storyline.
Meanwhile, during the Chuseok box office race, Ra Hee-chan's The Boss continued its reign at No. 1, attracting over 210,000 viewers that day.
