Actress Song Hye-kyo has reunited with renowned writer Kim Eun-sook for a special appearance in the Netflix series Make a Wish, Genie.
The series premiered on October 3 and tells the story of Genie (played by Kim Woo-bin), a "career-discontinued" genie, who meets Ga-young (Suzy), a human devoid of emotion — setting off a fantastical, emotional journey.
Song Hye-kyo appears as Jiniya, the ex-girlfriend of the devilish genie and a goddess who controls rain. Her striking outfit and dramatic eye makeup exude an exotic allure, leaving a powerful impression despite her brief screen time.
This marks the third collaboration between Song Hye-kyo and writer Kim Eun-sook. The two previously worked together on the megahit drama Descendants of the Sun (2016) and Netflix's global sensation The Glory (2022–2023).
Both projects were monumental successes — Descendants of the Sun achieved a record-breaking 38.8% viewership for its finale (according to Nielsen Korea), while The Glory topped Netflix's global TV show chart.
Other notable scene stealers in Make a Wish, Genie include Daniel Henney, Kim Ji-hoon, Kim Mi-kyung, and Woo Hyun-jin, each adding depth to the fantasy world as a dog, a knight, Ga-young's grandmother, and a celestial being, respectively.
Make a Wish, Genie is now streaming exclusively on Netflix.
