'SEVENTEEN' special unit S.Coups X Mingyu are taking Japan by storm, proving their explosive popularity across the islands.
According to Oricon on October 7, the duo's first mini album "HYPE VIBES" sold over 103,000 copies, securing the No.1 spot on the latest weekly album chart (dated October 13, tally period September 29–October 5). The pair have shown strong momentum since release.
Record-Breaking Success in Japan
The album debuted straight at No.1 on Oricon's Daily Album Ranking and stayed there for three consecutive days. It also topped iTunes Japan's Top Album chart, highlighting their growing mainstream appeal.
The title track "5, 4, 3 (Pretty woman)" entered the upper ranks of LINE MUSIC's real-time chart, later maintaining a steady presence on daily rankings.
Setting New K-pop Unit Records
HYPE VIBES sold over 880,000 copies in its first week, marking the highest first-week sales ever for a K-pop unit album. It also reached No.1 on QQ Music's "Digital Best-Selling Album" (EP category) in China.
Upon release, the title track soared to No.1 on real-time music charts in Korea, while all songs entered Melon's Top 100.
Global Recognition
British outlet Clash praised the song for its "bold and modern take on raw emotion," while NME described it as "a powerful stepping stone toward S.Coups and Mingyu's creative evolution."
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN will hold a special live-streamed concert today at 6 p.m. KST on their official YouTube channel as a Chuseok gift for fans.
