"Finding the Real Me" — Ryu Seung-ryong Embarks on a Journey of Self in The Story of Manager Kim
by. ymchoi

Actor Ryu Seung-ryong begins a profound exploration of identity in his upcoming JTBC weekend drama "The Story of Manager Kim Who Works at a Major Company and Owns a House in Seoul" (written by Kim Hong-gi and Yoon Hye-sung, directed by Cho Hyun-tak). The network unveiled a moving poster for the series on October 7.

A Middle-Aged Man's Quest for Meaning

The drama follows Kim Nak-soo (played by Ryu Seung-ryong), a man who loses everything he once believed defined his worth — his home, his status, and his career — and embarks on a journey to rediscover his true self beyond corporate titles and social labels.

The moving poster captures Kim's various titles: "homeowner in Seoul," "25-year employee at a major company," and "department manager." Each represents the milestones that once shaped his identity.

Shedding Labels to Reveal the Person Within

As the poster unfolds, the words "owns a house in Seoul" and "works at a major company" are literally blown away, leaving only the word "manager." Then even that fades — until all that remains is simply "Kim Nak-soo."

The imagery poses a central question: when everything you've achieved disappears, who are you really?

"The Story of Manager Kim Who Works at a Major Company and Owns a House in Seoul" premieres on October 25 at 10:40 p.m. KST on JTBC.
