by. ymchoi

The comedy-action film "The Boss" (directed by Ra Hee-chan) has officially surpassed 1 million moviegoers in just five days since its release.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing network, the film reached the milestone on October 7, marking the fastest October box office performance for a Korean film since the pandemic.

Chuseok's Only Comedy Wins Big

"The Boss" follows a group of gang members who — rather than fighting to become the next boss — desperately try to avoid the position for their own personal dreams. Its quirky premise and colorful characters have struck a chord with audiences.

The movie recorded a 40.4% seat occupancy rate, topping the box office charts. On opening day alone, it drew 240,000 viewers, proving the enduring power of humor during the holiday season.

Strong Ticket Sales Continue

As of 10:16 a.m. on October 7, "The Boss" remained No.1 in real-time ticket reservations, with a 22.1% booking rate and over 117,000 tickets sold in advance. "Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc" ranked second, followed by Park Chan-wook's "No Choice" in third place.
