Actor Kim Nam-gil and Professor Seo Kyung-duk of Sungshin Women's University marked Hangeul Day with a meaningful act of generosity, continuing their ongoing efforts to promote Korean language education abroad.
Supporting Korean Learning Around the World
On October 8, Professor Seo donated educational materials—including smart TVs, laptops, and stationery—to Monterrey Korean School in Mexico. Kim Nam-gil participated as a sponsor, drawing attention for his continued commitment to cultural philanthropy.
Seo explained, "As K-pop and K-dramas spread globally, more foreigners and overseas Koreans are eager to learn Hangeul and the Korean language. I wanted to contribute, even in a small way, to their learning environment."
Kim added, "We've been reaching out to organizations around the world dedicated to Hangeul education, and I plan to continue supporting them consistently."
Continuing the 'Hangeul Globalization Campaign'
Professor Seo has long been known for his Hangeul Globalization Campaign, donating educational tools to Korean weekend schools and language study groups worldwide. This year marks his fourth round of support, following past contributions to the Root Korean School in New York, K.Nam Sadang Cultural School in Vancouver, and Hangeul Learning Center in Budapest.
Promoting Hangeul and Giving Back
Kim and Seo also appeared together in the promotional video for the 2025 Hangeul Hanmadang, a global cultural festival celebrating the beauty and creativity of the Korean alphabet.
Meanwhile, Kim Nam-gil continues his charitable work through the annual "Universe Strongest Show" scheduled for November, a fundraising concert that provides meals, counseling, travel, and educational support for underprivileged children and teenagers.
