SEVENTEEN's special unit S.Coups x Mingyu has proven their strong popularity in Japan, earning another Gold Disc certification.
On October 10, the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) announced its latest streaming and sales certifications, with S.Coups x Mingyu's first mini album HYPE VIBES receiving a Gold certification.
Record-Breaking Sales in Japan
RIAJ grants Gold Disc certifications based on cumulative album shipments: Gold (100,000+ units), Platinum (250,000+), and Double Platinum (500,000+). HYPE VIBES, released in Japan on September 30, surpassed 100,000 shipments within a single day of release.
The album also topped Japan's Oricon Daily and Weekly Album Charts, as well as Billboard Japan's Top Album Sales chart, underscoring the duo's massive appeal in the region.
Continuing SEVENTEEN's Gold Streak
With this achievement, SEVENTEEN now holds a total of 18 Gold Disc certifications in Japan. Following Jeonghan x Wonwoo's single album THIS MAN, S.Coups x Mingyu have added another certified unit release to the group's record.
Dominating Both Japan and Korea
Their domestic success is equally impressive. HYPE VIBES sold 887,000 copies in its first week (September 29–October 5), setting a new record for the highest first-week sales by a K-pop unit album. It also topped the Circle Chart's weekly album chart (September 28–October 4), while the title track 5, 4, 3 (Pretty Woman) ranked No.1 on the download chart.
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN will kick off the North American leg of their world tour on October 12 at the Tacoma Dome in the U.S.
