The band concludes 15 years together, marking a new beginning
Korean band SORAN will officially wrap up group activities and move forward under vocalist Go Young-bae's solo leadership.
End of an era, start of a new chapter
On October 12, MPMG Music announced via Instagram, "After long discussions and deep reflection, the members of SORAN have agreed to focus on their individual musical paths."
Their upcoming EP DREAM, set for release on October 17, will be the band's final album as a complete group. SORAN will complete all scheduled concerts through January 2026 before transitioning into a one-member format led by Go Young-bae.
The agency added, "We sincerely apologize to our fans, Soraners, for the sudden news. Please continue to support Seo Myungho, Lee Taewook, and the new SORAN with Go Young-bae as they begin new journeys."
Honest reflections from the members
In a heartfelt message, the members explained that the turning point came when the band became a trio after drummer Pyeon Yoo-il's departure last year. "That was when we started deeply reflecting on the meaning of being a band and our individual dreams," they shared.
They continued, "Our conclusion then was to keep SORAN as three. We devoted ourselves to new releases and concerts, working harder than ever."
However, after their spring concert and during contract renewal talks, more conversations followed. Guitarist Lee Taewook expressed a long-held desire to pursue session work and instrumental music. The members respected his decision, leading Go Young-bae and Seo Myungho to reconsider the future of SORAN as a band. Ultimately, they decided to conclude group activities.
Music continues under Go Young-bae's name
While each member will move on individually, they agreed that SORAN's music should not disappear. Seo and Lee supported Go Young-bae in continuing SORAN as a solo project.
The members emphasized that they did not want to end things abruptly without proper goodbyes. Seo Myungho and Lee Taewook extended their contracts through January to finish the final concerts together and share one last album with fans.
They concluded, "We hope this farewell won't be too sad. Let's cherish the good memories and support each other's new beginnings. SORAN's music will live on, and someday, we hope to sing together again."
Debuting in 2010, SORAN gained recognition for their warm, story-driven pop rock sound. After 15 years of heartfelt music and connection, the band now turns the page to a new chapter.
