The FNC band idol group pours passion, practice, and purpose into their Korean comeback
Hi-Fi Un!corn is back — and their return is all about youth, growth, and authenticity.
The return of a band born from effort
The FNC Entertainment band-idol group, Hi-Fi Un!corn, rose to fame as the winning team of the Korea-Japan audition program The Idol Band: Boy's Battle in 2023. After two years and four months, the group finally makes their long-awaited Korean comeback with the single Teenage Blue (Korean ver), released on October 13.
During their comeback showcase at MBC's Public Hall in Sangam, member Hyun-yul revealed, "For the past year, we've been practicing six days a week — nearly twelve hours a day, except for meal times. We wanted to show what real music means."
"Teenage Blue" — a song of courage and connection
The title track Teenage Blue captures the delicate balance between anxiety and excitement — the defining emotions of youth. It tells a story of courage, friendship, and moving forward together, even through uncertain times.
Originally released as the title track of their second major Japanese single in August, the song has been newly reinterpreted in Korean, reflecting the members' wish to share their most radiant moments with home audiences.
Member Taemin described the track as "a song of hope — about holding hands and trusting yourself, even when fear and doubt arise. It's like an anthem for youth."
Hyun-yul added, "When I first heard the song last year, I got emotional during band practice. The melody really moved me, and some of us even cried while recording."
Min reflected, "It reminded me of a clear blue sky with no clouds — the kind of feeling that defines your twenties. I couldn't wait to perform it live."
From small stages to big dreams
Despite their hiatus from Korean promotions, Hi-Fi Un!corn has built momentum through performances at major festivals such as the Busan International Rock Festival and the Grand Mint Festival. "Even people who didn't know us were cheering — the energy was incredible," said Shuto.
Their senior artists at FNC have also been supportive. "Jung Yong-hwa, who produced us, has always given us advice," shared Taemin. "And FTISLAND's Lee Jae-jin, CNBLUE's Lee Jung-shin, and N.Flying's members have all looked out for us — they even bought us meals and gave us allowances," added Kiyun with a laugh.
A band built on passion and perseverance
Through countless hours of rehearsal and two years of constant effort, Hi-Fi Un!corn has forged not only stronger skills but also a deeper sense of unity. "We've truly grown into a real band," they said with pride.
Looking ahead, the group hopes to make their name known widely. "We just want people to recognize that a band like us exists," said Min. "Ultimately, we want to create that one hit song that makes people say, 'That's definitely a Hi-Fi Un!corn track.'"
Taemin concluded, "Our lyrics carry strength. We hope our music helps people recall their youth and find courage again. We'll give it everything we've got."
Hi-Fi Un!corn's new single Teenage Blue (Korean ver) is now available on all major music platforms.
