"Who does this concept better than BOYNEXTDOOR?" (Myung Jaehyun)

BOYNEXTDOOR has turned their coming-of-age story into a cinematic experience, capturing youth's emotions — love, friendship, fear, and the courage to act — with raw honesty and energy.

After declaring in their previous album No Genre that they "wouldn't be defined by one thing," the group now returns with a bolder mindset. Their fifth mini album The Action embodies the will to break limits and face challenges head-on — a BOYNEXTDOOR-style "action."

Passion and Confidence in Motion

At their media showcase held at KBS Arena in Seoul on October 20, the members shared their excitement for the new chapter. Woonhak said, "We worked really hard on this. I hope fans' expectations turn into confidence. Please look forward to it."

The Action delivers the spirit of youth choosing action over fear, reflecting the group's own journey of growth through trial and transformation. Liu added, "Everyone desires challenge and growth, but putting that into practice isn't easy. Every album has been both a challenge and growth for us, and this one marks another step forward."

The album includes five tracks — Hollywood Action (title), Live In Paris, JAM!, Bathroom, and You Know. Together, they create a single narrative arc: from friendship and musical connection to love, confusion, and emotional maturity after heartbreak.

'Hollywood Action' — The Title Track

The title song Hollywood Action is a bright, brass-infused swing track with an explosive chorus and catchy melody. "The moment I heard it, I knew it would do well," Woonhak said. "It's powerful, clear, and full of BOYNEXTDOOR's signature energy."

Their performance matched the song's cinematic tone — synchronized choreography with powerful group dynamics, including a playful "clapperboard" motion inspired by movie directors. The lyrics capture the group's witty confidence: 'Instead of a fancy red carpet, roll out the mat — we can do anything.'

The music video is set on a movie shoot, with the members acting like Hollywood stars in bold, stylized scenes that blur the line between film and performance.

Growing as Artists

Members Myung Jaehyun, Taesan, and Woonhak participated in writing and composing all the songs, translating their passion into sound. Taesan said, "Music is our confidence. BOYNEXTDOOR's songs are something only we can pull off."

Ihan joined the creative process for the first time since debut, sharing, "I've been waiting for this day. It was tough but rewarding. I'll keep challenging myself with new things."

Woonhak recalled, "While working in Japan, I made JAM! in a hotel room — literally under a blanket so I wouldn't disturb the next room. It was spontaneous, just like the song."

Building Their Momentum

Following back-to-back million-seller achievements and four consecutive Billboard chart entries, BOYNEXTDOOR continues to accelerate their rise. Seongho said, "Every album has been a challenge, but we've always given our best. Now, we want to be recognized for our artistry too."

Producer Zico's encouragement was also pivotal. "He told us, 'Be confident, and show them what you've got,'" Woonhak shared. "We want to prove that on stage."

Myung Jaehyun added, "We pulled many all-nighters for this one. There were trials, but that's how we grew. I hope people say, 'They're truly a group that's great at music.'"

With the release of The Action at 6 PM KST on October 20, BOYNEXTDOOR steps into a new chapter — ready to turn their story of youth and passion into yet another milestone.
