The Golden Disc Awards has unveiled the 40 most influential figures in Korean pop music history.

On October 23, the Golden Disc Awards committee announced the Golden Disc Powerhouse 40, selected by 50 industry experts including producers, songwriters, and composers. The list celebrates artists and creators who have shaped the evolution of K-pop and Korean popular music.

Icons Across Generations

The lineup includes legendary names such as Kim Gun Mo, Kim Kwang Seok, Kim Min Ki, Kim Wan Sun, Kim Eana, Kim Chang Hwan, Kim Hyung Suk, Na Hoon A, TVXQ, Deux, Deulgukhwa, and Park Jin Young.

Also named are Bang Si Hyuk, BTS, BoA, BLACKPINK, BIGBANG, Seo Taiji, Girls' Generation, Shin Seung Hun, Shin Joong Hyun, Shin Hae Chul, PSY, IU, Yang Hyun Suk, Yoo Young Jin, and Yoo Jae Ha.

Other honorees include Yoon Il Sang, Lee Moon Sae, Lee Soo Man, Lee Young Hoon, Lee Hyori, Lim Young Woong, Cho Yong Pil, G-Dragon, Kenzie, Teddy, god, and H.O.T (listed in alphabetical order).

Cultural Pioneers

Singers make up the majority of the selection, reflecting a balance between legendary idols and beloved mainstream artists.

The committee praised Seo Taiji as "a cultural icon who revolutionized Korean pop by fusing rap, rock, and new jack swing — influencing fashion and dance as well." BTS was recognized for "bringing K-pop to the center of the global music market," and for achieving "the most consecutive Grand Prize wins and the first-ever simultaneous honors in digital and album categories."

The 40th Golden Disc Awards will be held on January 10 next year at the Taipei Dome in Taiwan.
