The upcoming comedy film First Ride (directed by Nam Dae-jung) has soared to the top of Korea's box-office reservation charts even before its release.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing network, as of 2:16 p.m. on October 25, First Ride recorded 61,621 advance ticket sales with a reservation share of 21.5%, taking the No.1 spot. It overtook Japan's Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc, which had 48,090 reservations and a 16.8% share.

Breaking Records Before Release

First Ride already surpassed the pre-release sales of Kang Ha-neul's previous film Yadang (59,657 tickets a day before opening) and director Nam Dae-jung's earlier hit 30 Days (55,935 tickets a day before release). The momentum signals strong anticipation for another crowd-pleasing comedy.

A Star-Studded Comedy Reunion

The film follows five lifelong friends—Tae-jung (Kang Ha-neul), Do-jin (Kim Young-kwang), Yeon-min (Cha Eun-woo), Geum-bok (Kang Young-seok), and Ok-sim (Han Sun-hwa)—as they embark on their first overseas trip, leading to a series of chaotic and heartwarming adventures.

First Ride marks the reunion of director Nam Dae-jung and actor Kang Ha-neul, who last worked together on 30 Days. The ensemble cast also includes Kim Young-kwang, Cha Eun-woo, Han Sun-hwa, and Kang Young-seok, with comedic support from Choi Gwi-hwa, Go Kyu-pil, Yoon Kyung-ho, and Kang Ji-young.

First Ride hits theaters nationwide on October 29.
