RM of BTS will make history as the first K-pop artist to deliver a keynote speech at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.
He is scheduled to speak at 3:05 p.m. on October 29 during the APEC CEO Summit. His keynote, titled "The Cultural Creative Industry and the Soft Power of K-Culture in the APEC Region," will highlight the global impact and creative influence of Korean culture.
This marks the first time a K-pop artist has been invited as a speaker at an APEC event. Drawing from his global experience, RM is expected to discuss the cultural value and influence of K-culture on the world stage.
Previously, RM spoke at the United Nations in 2018 as part of UNICEF's youth agenda initiative, becoming the first Korean artist to address a UN General Assembly event. At that time, he encouraged young people to "love yourself and speak yourself," messages he continued to share in his 2020 and 2021 UN addresses.
The APEC CEO Summit will take place from October 28 to 31 at the Gyeongju Arts Center, with around 1,700 participants, including leaders from 16 of the 21 member economies and major business figures.
