Actor Park Bo-gum will lend his voice to a documentary honoring the late poet Yoon Dong-ju.
MBC Radio announced on October 27 that it will air a special documentary titled With a Heart That Sings the Stars to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Korea–Japan diplomatic relations, with narration by Park Bo-gum.
The program centers around the recent unveiling of a memorial monument at Rikkyo University in Japan, Yoon Dong-ju's alma mater, and shares stories from people in both Korea and Japan who continue to remember the poet.
On October 11, Rikkyo University erected its first-ever Yoon Dong-ju monument in Tokyo, engraved with his portrait and one of his poems written during his student years.
Rather than simply paying tribute to Yoon, With a Heart That Sings the Stars explores universal themes such as "love," "shame," and "handshake," interweaving past and present perspectives.
The documentary also features interviews with literary and cultural figures, including Professor Kim Eung-gyo of Sookmyung Women's University (a leading Yoon Dong-ju scholar), director Lee Joon-ik of the film Dongju, and novelist Gong Ji-young.
Activist Park Kyung-seok, head of the Solidarity Against Disability Discrimination, and Lee Na-young, chairperson of the Korean Council for Justice and Remembrance for the Japanese Military Sexual Slavery Issue, discuss the modern meaning of "shame."
Park Bo-gum, known for his deep admiration of Yoon Dong-ju, delivers the narration with a warm, reflective tone — as if writing a heartfelt letter to the poet himself.
Producers shared, "This documentary brings together the love and respect people in both countries hold for Yoon Dong-ju, encouraging reflection on 'shame' and unity through a 'handshake' toward the future."
With a Heart That Sings the Stars will air on November 1 at 8:05 p.m. on MBC Radio Standard FM (Seoul 95.9MHz).
