Bong Joon-ho and Kim Eun-hee support indie hit The Owner of the World
by. ymchoi

Director Bong Joon-ho and screenwriter Kim Eun-hee are joining forces to support director Yoon Ga-eun's acclaimed film The Owner of the World.

On October 28, the production team revealed the second lineup of guest talk (GV) sessions featuring Bong Joon-ho, Kim Eun-hee, and designer Park Si-young.

Kim Eun-hee will host a special GV with Yoon Ga-eun at CineCube at 7:40 p.m., sharing her thoughts on the film from a writer's perspective. Film journalist Jang Sung-ran will moderate. Designer Park Si-young, who created the posters for both The World of Us and The Owner of the World, will hold a design-focused GV on October 31 at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall, offering behind-the-scenes insights.

Yoon Ga-eun will continue the GV series with critic Min Yong-jun on November 5 at Art Nine and meet audiences again on November 7 at KT&G Sangsangmadang alongside main cast members Seo Soo-bin, Kim Jung-sik, Kang Chae-yoon, Kim Ye-chang, Kim Min-ji, and Oh Jung-won.

The highlight session with director Bong Joon-ho will take place on November 12 at Megabox COEX. Bong, who has supported Yoon since her previous film The World of Us, is expected to engage in an in-depth conversation about her storytelling and cinematic vision.

The Owner of the World follows Ju-in, an enigmatic high school girl who refuses to sign a petition supported by her entire class and begins receiving mysterious notes. The film delicately explores adolescence caught between social conformity and self-awareness.

Since its release on October 22, the film has attracted 34,714 viewers in just five days, ranking No. 1 among Korean independent films.

Critically, it has made waves worldwide — invited to the Platform section of the 50th Toronto International Film Festival, and winning both the Jury Prize and Audience Award at the 9th Pingyao International Film Festival, as well as the FIPRESCI Award at the 41st Warsaw International Film Festival.

TIFF senior programmer Giovanna Fulvi praised, "Director Yoon Ga-eun captures the pains of adolescence with remarkable delicacy, portraying a young individual who rediscovers resilience and selfhood within intimate family ties."
