Actor Yeo Jin-goo (28) is set to begin his military service as a KATUSA (Korean Augmentation to the United States Army).
His agency announced on November 3, "Yeo Jin-goo has been selected for KATUSA duty and will serve for 18 months starting December 15."
The specific time and location of his enlistment will remain private. "Since the entrance ceremony is shared with other soldiers and families, the details will not be disclosed," the agency stated.
They added, "We ask for your continued support and encouragement until Yeo Jin-goo fulfills his duty and returns as a more mature version of himself."
Yeo personally shared the news last month during his 20th-anniversary Asia fan meeting tour Blank Space in Taipei. In a handwritten letter, he said, "I'll come back stronger and more mature, and I promise to greet you again with deeper acting."
He also reassured fans with a smile, saying, "Don't be sad — rewatch my past works and wait for me. I'll return as someone you can be proud of."
Debuting as a child actor, Yeo Jin-goo has built a solid career with acclaimed roles in The Moon Embracing the Sun, The Crowned Clown, Hotel Del Luna, Hwayi: A Monster Boy, Ditto, and Hijacking.
