The 2017 film Fabricated City has sparked a new chapter in its universe. Ji Chang-wook returns to lead another intense revenge story in Disney+'s Fragmented City (written by Oh Sang-ho, directed by Park Shin-woo and Kim Chang-joo), a series adaptation that expands the film's cathartic energy with new layers of action and emotion.
The story keeps its revenge-driven narrative while widening its scope and deepening character dynamics. With upgraded chase scenes and immersive fight sequences, the drama aims to deliver a more powerful thrill to viewers.
A press conference was held at Conrad Seoul on November 3, attended by Ji Chang-wook, Do Kyung-soo, Lee Kwang-soo, Kim Jong-soo, Jo Yoon-su, and director Park Shin-woo.
Ji Chang-wook plays Park Tae-jung, a hardworking young man whose life is shattered after being falsely accused of a brutal crime. "I focused on Tae-jung's situation and emotions rather than overanalyzing him," Ji said. "I wanted the audience to follow his pain naturally."

He added, "The script had strong visual appeal and layered relationships. I felt confident and motivated to take on the role." Ji clarified that this version of his character is completely new, unrelated to his role in the 2017 film.
Do Kyung-soo transforms into Ahn Yo-han, the calculating CEO of a private security firm who manipulates lives like puzzle pieces. Ruthless and cold, Yo-han sets out to eliminate Tae-jung — his one "failed project." "He's cruel and chilling," Do shared. "I couldn't rely on real experiences, so I studied films and documentaries to imagine him."
Do also revealed his physical transformation. "I repeatedly bleached and permed my hair to create a damaged look, and wore striking suits to emphasize his sharpness." He described Tae-jung as "a cockroach-like rival who keeps coming back no matter how many times he's crushed."
Director Park highlighted Ji Chang-wook's dedication: "He performed most action scenes himself. His intensity brought real weight to the set." Ji added, "Each episode felt like clearing a new stage. I worked closely with the stunt team to connect Tae-jung's emotions to the choreography."
In contrast, Do Kyung-soo's action is refined and restrained. "Yo-han is elegant but merciless — he dominates with cold precision rather than emotional outbursts," he explained.
Lee Kwang-soo joins as Baek Do-kyung, a powerful client holding a key to the case. "He's so vile that I wanted to spit on the script," Lee joked. "I want viewers to feel that same anger." Ji's allies include Kim Jong-soo and Jo Yoon-su, who play members of his scrappy yet passionate support team.
Director Park noted that Fragmented City builds intrigue with every episode. "It's a drama full of unpredictable turns and emotional catharsis," he said.
Lee Kwang-soo added, "We filmed with intensity and passion — once viewers start, they won't be able to stop."
Do Kyung-soo and Kim Jong-soo concluded, "This story delivers the satisfaction of good triumphing over evil. It's a stress-relieving, action-packed series."
Fragmented City premieres on Disney+ on November 5, with four episodes released initially and two new ones dropping each week.
