Actress Jeon Jong Seo is expanding her global footprint with a major Hollywood role.
According to her agency Andmarq on November 6, Jeon has been cast in the upcoming remake of the Hollywood blockbuster Highlander, a project already drawing massive attention from fans of the original series.
Highlander began with the 1986 film of the same name, telling the story of a warrior resurrected from death who enters a fateful duel among immortals. The new remake reportedly carries a production budget of around 100 billion KRW.
The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Henry Cavill, Mark Ruffalo, Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, and Jeremy Irons. It will be directed by Chad Stahelski, best known for the John Wick franchise and his signature action aesthetics.
Jeon will portray a member of "The Watchers," a secret organization that monitors immortals and prevents their existence from being exposed to humans.
The remake is produced by United Label, a studio under Amazon MGM, and is set to begin filming in early 2026.
Jeon Jong Seo has steadily built her international career — debuting in Lee Chang Dong's Burning, which was invited to the Cannes Film Festival, then entering Hollywood with Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon and later attending the Toronto International Film Festival with Project Y.
