Yoo Ji-tae and Lee Min-jung are uniting in a new crime thriller.
A representative from TVING confirmed on November 7 that the original series Villains will premiere on December 18.
A battle among the corrupt
Villains follows a deadly chase between a mysterious criminal mastermind and a corrupt detective, both hunting for an ultra-sophisticated counterfeit bill known as the "Supernote."
Yoo Ji-tae takes on the role of "J," a brilliant yet enigmatic crime architect. Lee Min-jung plays Han Soo-hyun, a gifted counterfeiter who becomes consumed by vengeance after her life collapses due to J's scheme.
Kwak Do-won stars as Jang Jung-hyuk, a crooked cop entangled in illegal dealings, while Lee Beom-soo transforms into Cha Ki-tae, a former National Intelligence Service agent leading the financial crimes task force in pursuit of J.
A long-awaited release
Originally slated for release in 2023, the drama faced indefinite postponement following Kwak Do-won's DUI incident. However, TVING clarified, "The delay wasn't due to Kwak Do-won. The decision was made while adjusting the release schedule for TVING's original content lineup."
Villains will finally premiere on December 18, delivering a fierce showdown between the darkest of characters.
