Cat's Eye has earned double nominations at the 68th Grammy Awards.
On November 8 (local time), the Recording Academy announced the official list of nominees for the upcoming ceremony, which will take place in Los Angeles on February 1.
Making Grammy history
Cat's Eye has been nominated for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, marking a major milestone. In the Best New Artist category, they will compete against Olivia Dean, The Marías, Addison Rae, Sombre, Leon Thomas, Alex Warren, and Lola Young.
The Best New Artist category is one of the Grammys' "Big Four," alongside Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year. Cat's Eye is the first group originating from K-pop methods — though not a traditional K-pop act — to receive a nomination in this prestigious field.
A global impact recognized
Their breakout hit Gabriela also earned a nod for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, where they will go head-to-head with powerhouse contenders including Cynthia Erivo & Ariana Grande (Defying Gravity), K-pop Demon Hunters (Golden), Rosé & Bruno Mars (Apartment), and SZA & Kendrick Lamar (30 for 30).
Despite being less than two years into their debut, Cat's Eye has become one of the most talked-about global acts. CNN commented, "The Grammys confirm that Cat's Eye is having its best year yet," while ABC News praised, "It's rare to see a girl group nominated in a major Grammy category — even rarer for a global one."
