Jun Ji-hyun and Ji Chang-wook are uniting for a new fantasy romantic comedy.
The production team confirmed on the 12th that Jun Ji-hyun and Ji Chang-wook will lead JTBC's upcoming drama Human X Gumiho (working title), written by Im Mea-ri and directed by Kim Jung-sik.
Human X Gumiho tells the story of a spellbinding creature who enchants humans and a man who unknowingly attracts spirits, their fates colliding in a whimsical mix of love and danger.
Director Kim Jung-sik, known for Strong Girl Nam-soon and I Don't Want to Lose Money, teams up with screenwriter Im Mea-ri of The Beauty Inside, promising a fresh, witty fantasy-romance blend.
Jun Ji-hyun takes on the role of Goo Ja-hong, a top actress and a 2,000-year-old gumiho (nine-tailed fox) whose charm constantly lands her in scandals. For centuries, manipulating humans was second nature—until she meets one man immune to her powers.
Ji Chang-wook plays Choi Seok, a shaman and curator of the Five-Star Museum. Though he appears carefree, he possesses the rare ability to see the dark, unseen side of the world. When a gumiho invades his domain, curiosity turns to destiny as the two become entangled in a magical romance.
Producers teased, "With Jun Ji-hyun and Ji Chang-wook embodying this captivating concept, viewers can expect a refreshing new take on the fantasy rom-com genre."
Human X Gumiho will also be available for streaming on Amazon Prime.
