Actor Choi Jung-won, formerly of the group UN, has been forwarded to prosecution on allegations of stalking a woman he previously dated. Korean authorities confirmed that the case includes charges under the Act on Punishment of Stalking Crimes.
Police Measures and Court Restrictions
According to the Seoul Jungbu Police, Choi allegedly visited the woman's home in August after she ended their relationship. He is also accused of threatening her with a weapon, leading investigators to apply additional charges of special intimidation. Evidence submitted included threatening calls and text messages.
To protect the victim, police filed for an emergency protection order, which the Seoul Central District Court approved. The order prohibited Choi from approaching within 100 meters of the victim's residence and from contacting her through electronic communications.
Choi Jung-won's Position
Choi has denied all accusations. He previously stated that the situation was "a minor conflict between me and my girlfriend that grew into a misunderstanding," insisting that claims of brandishing a weapon, intimidation, or stalking "are entirely untrue." He added that both he and the woman dispute the allegations.
