NewJeans Takes Legal Action Against Malicious Commenters and Deepfake Crimes
by. ymchoi

NewJeans' agency has launched another round of strong legal action against malicious commenters.

ADOR released an announcement titled "Update on Legal Measures for Artist Rights Protection" on Weverse on November 17, stating that they are preparing criminal complaints. The agency expressed concern that "the severity of rights violations—such as fake news and privacy breaches targeted at artists—is escalating."

ADOR revealed that they will file criminal charges against individuals who posted malicious content online and added that additional complaints will follow.

The agency also emphasized intensified action against deepfake crimes. They noted that "although the perpetrators attempted to seek settlements, we firmly conveyed our intent to pursue strict punishment."

Determined to eradicate such acts, ADOR stated that they are "actively cooperating with investigative authorities to eliminate deepfake crimes targeting artists."

Fans were encouraged to participate: "We ask for proactive reports through the HYBE Artist Rights Protection portal regarding NewJeans-related violations."

ADOR concluded by expressing gratitude: "We deeply appreciate the love and dedication from fans and will continue striving to protect the rights of our artists."

Meanwhile, NewJeans members Haerin and Hyein have expressed intentions to return, and Minji, Hanni, and Danielle have notified through legal representatives that they plan to return to ADOR as well.
