Park Hae-soo Wraps Asia Run of 'The Cherry Orchard'…Heads to Australia and the U.S. Next Year
by. ymchoi

Park Hae-soo has completed the Asia leg of The Cherry Orchard, captivating audiences across the region with his powerful performance.

The play is a modern Seoul reinterpretation of Anton Chekhov's classic, adapted and directed by world-renowned director Simon Stone. It preserves the original's emotional depth while adding a contemporary edge.

The production opened the 2025 Hong Kong AsiaPlus Festival in September with a sold-out run. It then moved to Singapore's Esplanade from November 7 to 9, where it ended with standing ovations across three performances.

Hae-soo played Hwang Doo-sik, the son of a former chauffeur who grows up under an abusive father and later becomes a successful businessman. Despite his rise, he remains small and timid in front of the family that shaped his trauma. Hae-soo delivered the character's deep emotional fractures with subtle, gripping nuance.

He shared, "Even with different languages and cultures, emotions always connect. Sharing the most honest human feelings on stage is a special experience."

Hae-soo continues his busy career. The Cherry Orchard will head to the U.S. and Australia next year. He also recently wrapped filming for ENA's drama Scarecrow. His upcoming releases include Netflix's The Price of Confession, co-starring Jeon Do-yeon and Kim Go-eun, and the Netflix film The Great Flood with Kim Da-mi.
