Kang Hyewon is set to expand her acting career globally with her first Japanese drama role.

Her agency PEACE announced on the 18th that she has been cast as Park Lin in the romance series Love at First Bite. The story follows a Korean woman studying abroad in Japan and a Japanese man navigating cultural differences as they slowly open their hearts to each other.

Kang Hyewon plays Park Lin, a Korean graduate student pursuing her dreams while enduring the hardships of reality. She will star alongside Japanese actor Eiji Akaso, who portrays a former marathon ace struggling with lethargy after a major setback.

Their characters begin to fall in love, inspiring deeper reflection on life. The production team noted that viewers can look forward to the pair's unique chemistry.

Kang Hyewon shared, "The main characters share a common theme of moving toward their dreams. I hope many people connect with that."

Love at First Bite premieres January 12 on TV Tokyo and will also be available on Netflix.
