Actress Nana and her mother have been cleared of wrongdoing after subduing a knife-wielding intruder inside their home. Their actions have been officially recognized as legitimate self-defense, while the suspect is set to be transferred to the prosecution in custody.
According to the Guri Police Department on November 22, the suspect A, a man in his 30s charged with aggravated robbery and injury, will be referred to the prosecution on the 24th.
The incident occurred around 6 a.m. on November 15, when A scaled a ladder and broke into Nana's home in Guri through the balcony. Armed with a weapon, he demanded money. Nana and her mother fought back during the struggle, successfully subduing him before calling the police.
Both Nana and her mother sustained injuries in the process, while A suffered a laceration on his jaw. Investigators determined that the injury A received falls under Article 21(1) of the Criminal Act—legitimate self-defense.
Police concluded that Nana and her mother acted to protect themselves from an ongoing unlawful threat and that the level of force used was reasonable. A police representative noted that there was clear and immediate danger to the victims and that they did not inflict excessive harm.
On November 18, A filed a request for a detention validity review, claiming police failed to read him his Miranda rights during arrest. The court dismissed his claim. His request extended the detention period, but police confirmed he will be forwarded to the prosecution in custody on the 24th.
