"Creative compromises weren't possible, so we've decided to rework the performance."
Ock Joo-hyun was scheduled to hold her solo concert OK-RIGINAL on December 6–7 at KBS Arena — her first standalone show in seven years.
However, on November 23, she announced that the concert would be postponed just two weeks before opening. She explained that "the current state of the production cannot reach the level of performance we aimed for."
On Instagram, Ock reflected, "I remember telling many of you throughout the year that we would meet 'in the air,' and that memory stays with me."
She continued, "Thinking about the stage I promised to deliver, the production team and I reached the conclusion — after long discussions — that the venue choice needs to be adjusted."
All tickets will be fully refunded. Still, criticism is growing. Many point out that creative direction and stage planning should have been resolved far earlier in the production timeline.
Postponing a concert just two weeks before the show places a burden on fans. Some had already secured transportation and hotel reservations, especially those traveling from outside the city.
While Ock's explanation that "creative compromises weren't possible" may sound reasonable, critics argue that she compromised far too easily when it came to the promise made to fans.
Meanwhile, Ock Joo-hyun is currently performing in the musical Red Book and will continue with Bonnie & Clyde starting next month.
