Kim Se-jeong is earning praise as the new sageuk fairy.
In MBC's When the Moon Flows Over Igangeun (written by Jo Seung-hee, directed by Lee Dong-hyun), Kim Se-jeong takes on a rare triple role — peddler Park Dali, Crown Princess Kang Yeon-wol, and Dali after her soul switches with the Crown Prince.
She moves seamlessly between three completely different personas, unveiling a new face each episode. From everyday realism to tragedy, romance, and comedic fantasy, she proves her impressive range.
Park Dali is a lively, street-smart merchant with a hearty dialect and warm charm. Roaming through bustling markets, she brings humor and brightness to every scene.
Despite being falsely accused, she maintains her unbreakable spirit. Kim Se-jeong completes Dali's human warmth with witty delivery and energetic performance.
In contrast, Kang Yeon-wol — Dali's past life as the Crown Princess — is a character of solemn grace. Her emotions must be conveyed through subtle gazes and delicate expressions. She carries a tragic arc, having thrown herself into the river to protect Igangeun (played by Kang Tae-oh).

Kim Se-jeong transforms completely, shifting her eyes and breath to portray quiet yet unwavering sorrow. Even brief flashbacks clearly reveal Yeon-wol's love and resignation.
After the soul-switch incident, "Dali as Igangeun" raises the acting bar even higher. Kim Se-jeong replicates Igangeun's speech, facial expressions, and gait to perfection, embodying him fully.
The merchant's Chungcheong dialect disappears, replaced by the commanding tone of a Crown Prince. Even amid comedic setups, she keeps the soul-switch portrayal grounded yet entertaining.
The drama has entered its second half. As episodes progress, tangled relationships, power struggles, and hidden revenge come to light. Episode 7 of When the Moon Flows Over Igangeun airs at 9:40 p.m. on the 28th.
