Hybe, SM and YG Lead Donation Wave For Hong Kong Fire Tragedy Relief

Major K-pop companies and artists are stepping up with large-scale donations to support victims of the deadly Hong Kong apartment fire.

Hybe Music Group's six APAC labels announced they have donated 500 million KRW to Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association, sending condolences to those who lost their lives and their families. The funds will be used in cooperation with Hong Kong nonprofit organizations to support bereaved families. APAC head Yoo Dong-joo expressed hopes for a swift recovery and shared words of comfort.

SM Entertainment Artists Join in Solidarity

SM Entertainment donated 1 million Hong Kong dollars (around 190 million KRW) to the Red Cross Society of China Hong Kong Branch. The money will go toward firefighting efforts, emergency relief, and daily necessities for affected residents.

SM artists also joined the cause individually.

  • aespa donated 500,000 HKD (around 90 million KRW)
  • RIIZE donated 250,000 HKD (around 50 million KRW)
  • WayV donated 250,000 HKD to the same organization

aespa's Chinese member NingNing wrote on Instagram, asking fans to stay safe, pay tribute to firefighters, and observe a moment of silence for the victims.

YG Entertainment, i-dle and Jackson Wang Add Powerful Support

YG Entertainment also donated 1 million HKD, stating their "deep condolences to the victims" and expressing respect for everyone who bravely stepped in to help during the crisis.

i-dle took part through the China Siyuan-style foundation, donating 1 million yuan (around 200 million KRW). Chinese member YUQI personally posted on social media to express her condolences and support for those affected.

Hong Kong–born GOT7 member Jackson Wang joined the relief efforts as well. Together with his clothing brand TEAM WANG, he donated 1 million HKD (around 190 million KRW) to Hong Kong Tung Wah Group of Hospitals.

Scale of the Hong Kong Fire and MAMA's Response

The tragedy occurred in a 32-story residential complex in the Tai Po area of Hong Kong's North District on November 26. The building is reported to house over 4,800 residents.

According to local fire authorities, as of this morning the death toll has reached 94 people, including one firefighter who died in the line of duty. The number of injured stands at 76.

Amid the national mourning, the 2025 MAMA Awards at Hong Kong Kai Tak Stadium will still proceed as scheduled. CJ ENM stated that, rather than focusing on flashy staging, the ceremony will be carefully adjusted to center on messages of comfort and hope for those affected by the disaster.
