Nasanghyeon Band has officially closed the case surrounding the sexual misconduct allegation, confirming that the accusation was based on a fabricated post written by a minor.
January, the band's agency, stated on November 28 that they submitted a withdrawal of complaint on the 26th after receiving a sincere apology and written statement from the individual who spread the false claim.
False Accusation Identified
According to the agency, the perpetrator had posted untrue content online, leading to the initial accusation. Through the legal process, the individual was identified, and it was confirmed—via parents and legal counsel—that the perpetrator was a minor with diminished mental capacity. The agency submitted a withdrawal of charges related to defamation, obstruction of business, and slander.
They emphasized that the settlement involved no financial conditions and acknowledged shortcomings in their early response. The agency reiterated its commitment to ensuring the protection of the artist's rights moving forward.
Initial Allegation and Agency's Clarification
The controversy began in May, when vocalist-guitarist Nasanghyeon was accused of touching a woman's thigh while pretending to be heavily intoxicated at a gathering. Nasanghyeon issued an apology at the time, saying he did not recall the details clearly due to drinking.
However, the agency later explained that the statement had been posted preemptively based on moral responsibility before all facts were fully verified — and that upon thorough review, the allegation was found to be untrue.
