G-DRAGON Donates 200 Million KRW to Support Hong Kong Fire Recovery
by. ymchoi

G-DRAGON has joined relief efforts for victims of the devastating Hong Kong fire.

The artist donated 1 million Hong Kong dollars (approximately 188 million KRW) to the Support Fund for Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, a government-established fund created to direct donations toward disaster recovery. He specifically requested that his contribution be used to support firefighters and first responders.

Extending Help Through the Just Peace Foundation

The Just Peace Foundation — where G-DRAGON serves as honorary chairman — will also collaborate with Hong Kong organizations. The foundation plans to provide psychological support expertise for firefighters and rescue personnel involved in the disaster response.

A representative stated that they hoped to "show solidarity that transcends borders" and wished for Hong Kong citizens to find healing through the power of art.

Scale of the Tragedy

The fire broke out on November 26 at the 32-story Wang Fuk Court apartment complex in Tai Po. The blaze spread across seven buildings for approximately 43 hours, causing major loss of life and damage.

As of the 28th, local authorities have confirmed 128 deaths, with around 200 people still missing. The number is expected to rise as search operations continue.

G-DRAGON is currently on his Ubermensch world tour, with the finale scheduled for December 12–14 at Seoul Gocheok Sky Dome.
